Recently, I’ve been doing a bit of time travelling, reviewing my old journals and slides. And so, I’ve created the video, MEXICO OBSCURA, from my amorphous memories of Mexico 1979. In this video, my slides take shape, enshrining commonplace reality with a mystical aura of holiness. Each image captures “a decisive moment” in the juxtaposition of people and their surroundings. The resulting tableaux become ambiguous narratives filled with a magical sense of mystery.
